Understanding Halmen- from Coni's Blog
Coni, my sexologist friend (a.k.a sex therapist) wrote an anti thesis to my "Understanding Coni" entry. Check it out.. It's also funny... I think..
Understanding Halmen
I am writing this blog entry in retaliation to Halmen's "Understanding Coni," which was thankfully edited by Ces down to only mildly disturbing. Also madame requested that I write her an entry or a testimonial in friendster (and i have mentioned my feelings about friendster before, right?) Otherwise I would have waited for some time and objectivity to write about Halmen. For how can I be objective about a person whom you meet everyday? But she is more than that, she is a voice of (let's just say...)my conscience, my refuge in the midst of chaos (even though god knows she's also the source of it most of the time) or as she says her room is. She is my driver(1.I don't have a license 2. she drives me nuts 3. she drives me to live up to my potential)She is my best friend. (I don't know if she knows that) And a lot of other things to me. (And yes, we both like GUYS)
1. Halmen is a remarkable person. You can't meet her and not notice her. (Roy: Dugong) She is full of life. Vibrant. Always smiling. Even during the times, other people would cry. She is very curious and passionate. She's bound to talk to you - whoever you may be - even if you're the country's president - and ask you about things that spark her interest or start a debate with you.
2. She is very stubborn. Believe it or not, beneath Halmen's smiling and sometimes goofy exterior, Halmen is a thinker. As in. Her mind process things and scenarios a terabyte per second. And once she has come to a conclusion on something, good luck trying to convince her otherwise. Not that she wouldn't listen to you...it just means that it takes a while before you change her mind. Oh and Halmen - just translate what I just said to: I think you're a very passionate person who has great conviction and fights for what she believes in. Which is true, Halmen also doesn't believe in doing things half-way, she gives it her all everytime.Brief example of 1&2: She asks most if not all our male foreign trainees whether or not they are circumsized, just out of curiosity. If she finds out that the guy isn't cut - she then proceeds to convince the guy to get cut because she believes it's better, more sanitary, kinder to the girl of the guy, etc. Believe me it was a good thing that she's MCP.
3. Halmen is multi-talented. Where else could you find a social researcher or leader who can sing, compose, dance, origami, experiments on recipes, play badminton, etc. She is one of the most creative people I know.
4. She has a big heart. She's very loving - she even has her unique way of showing it. She sees the good and potential in people - which makes her a good friend and a good leader. She's friends with people whom I wouldn't give my time of day - but because Halmen have learned to love that person, I get to take a second look beyond looks, facades they try to project and sometimes even beyond their obvious flaws. Mind you, Halmen at the same time is quite the laitera (a critic). Her vivid imagination produces the most graphic of insults and metaphors.
5. She's a generous person. Oh, and she's also magastos, meaning she's not a spendthrift. Which would also cause the people she's with to spend money - like watching movies twice a week or eating 4 times a day hehe. So I'd like to say thanks to Halmen, for letting me stay at her house...sometimes 4 out 7 days in a week. And also for giving me clothes. 'Cause ever since her transfmation into looking more like a girl care of Roy, Pedro and Arvin, she thinks I should also change my style. Like wear more girly, flower-patterned clothes. FYI - I like plain, solid-colored clothes...stripes at the most. Hehe, for those who haven't seen Halmen for a while, she's girlier. Her clothes fit well, she wears pastel colors, flower prints, jewelry, she has a purse instead of her backpack, gold ballet shoes instead of birkenstocks, either slacks or skirts and rhinestoned-butterfly hair-clips. There's a whole lot more I can say about Halmen. But then that would be oversharing. I'd just like to explain why she wrote "Understanding Coni" in the first place. One day in her car she said, "I love you but I don't understand you". Which to me is unthinkable because how could you love someone without understanding that person. For me it's a pre-requisite. Her entry is hilarious, especially the unedited one, but its not really the me that everyone sees. It's only a side of me that I share to people who I thought would understand me - quirks and all.I guess if you read both our "Understanding..." entries would see how we both love each other...and yet drive each other up the wall. And to this day, it's quite a mystery. So I guess yeah, understanding isn't everything. (eye-roll, you are yet again right hal) But it's nice knowing every now and then. (wink. :P)
